The Second Biodiversity WG meeting in Odessa, September 4 - 5, 2008
At the meeting the revised version of the Guiding Principles for the Establishment of the Marine Protected Areas in the Black Sea, developed by the ECBSea project and drafted by Paul Goriup, Key Project Expert on Biodiversity, was commented and discussed. Basing on the meeting discussions and results all participants made a conclusion that Guiding Principles for Establishing Marine Protected Areas would be useful tool for the next steps on biodiversity conservation in the countries of the Black Sea region. The Third and the final BWG meeting will be taking place in February 2009 where the review of the methodologies for MPA identification, establishment and endorsement of the final Management Plan for the MPA in Karkinitsky Bay will be done.
